Our tiles and tile wall hangings are produced with specially formulated, UV resistant inks and tough durable polymer coatings.

These specially formulated tiles start out as standard sized tiles that can be purchased at any tile store...but are then put through a special coating process before they are available for our professional photo reproduction finishing. For this reason, we can not use tiles that you supply.

Although the tiles are finished with a UV resistant, tough durable polymer coating, there are specific applications where special consideration must be given before
deciding to go ahead with particular applications. We do not recommend against these applications, however the end user must satisfy himself or herself with a balance between best practices and a desired aesthetic result.

Interior Use 

Although the tiles and ink have a UV resistant coating, they are not appropriate
for outside use. Some of our customers have put the tiles vertically in a mural in shaded areas outside and have reported great results.

For indoor use, the tiles, like your hardwood floors, carpets, curtains, upholstery,
etc. will fade over time. The amount of time will depend on many factors including how
much direct sunlight is on the tiles on a day to day basis.		           

Tile Finishes		  
Ceramic Tiles Ceramic Tiles
Available Sizes - 4.25" X 4.25" - 6" X 6" - 8" x 8"

Our ceramic tiles are ideal for wall hangings, shower/tub enclosures, kitchen backsplashes and Art To Be Square Home Furnishing Products.
Matte Finish Tiles have a scratch resistant and moisture resistant surface and 
are suitable for use in moist interior/damp areas. These tiles will scratch under extreme pressure, but are suitable for tabletops, such as coffee and end tables. These tiles are great for tile wall hangings behind a kitchen backsplash, as a shower surround, in a keepsake box, displayed on an easel, or framed.

Gloss Finish Tiles provide a brilliant canvas for best artwork and photo reproduction. Susceptible to scratches, and not recommended for surfaces which require frequent cleaning.  They are suitable for 
use only as decorative tiles, such as keepsake boxes, displaying art on an easel, framed, or in wall hangings that are hung for artwork. 
  
Marble Tiles Tumbled Stone Marble Tiles
Available Sizes - 4" x 4" - 6" x 6"

These marble tiles are naturally tumbled and add a rustic, 
old world look to any tile wall hanging. 
A flat stone finish that presents any art or image in an old-world fashion.
These tiles have a lacquered surface and are the second most scratch resistant
tiles. They can be used as a kitchen backsplash, counter top, table top, displayed
on an easel, or framed. These tiles should be sealed with a tile sealer if used as a kitchen backsplash.
  
Glass Tiles Glass Tiles
Available Sizes - 4.25" x 4.25" - 6" x 6"

Glass tiles add a shimmer and modern look to any tile wall hanging.
Images are applied to the backside of the glass to protect the dyes from wear and abrasion. Because the image is on the backside of the glass tiles, the glass itself acts as an excellent barrier, virtually eliminating the concerns of image durability. The glass protects the image from scratches, chemicals/cleaners and airborne pollutants. In addition the natural properties of glass provides an extra level of UV protection for the dyes used in creating the image. adding a new modern dimension to any tile wall hanging. 

Since the image is on the bottom of the tile, this is the most durable tile offered. This tile gives a 3 dimensional look to the artwork.

Tempered Glass - These glass tiles are a dynamic alternative to ordinary tile and are suitable for high-traffic residential and commercial applications such as kitchens, hallways, foyers, business lobbies, executive suites, and boardrooms. The tiles can also be used for back-lit walls, wall hangings, and countertop installations.

 Smooth Glass Tiles - These are for elegant decorative use (not floors or countertops that take abuse). Best used for decorative accessories and wall hangings.
  

Tile Installation - The use of silicone grouts is recommended, as the cleaning process of excess grout will tend to scratch the Polymer Coating
of the dye-sublimated tiles if grouts containing sand are used.
 If conventional grouts are used, it is recommended that extreme care be taken
when cleaning off excess grout. Masking the surface edges for the
dye-sublimated tiles prior to installation is also required.

Art To Be Square does not grout wall hangings or other tile products.
